Rafters (Part 1)
The second floor roof rafters are going down (up?)
Here one of the framers is notching the end rafter for some 2x4 support beams that cantilever out to hold up the very last overhanging rafter/rake board.
All you have to do is hang over the side while using the circular saw, and try not to fall off.
They say the giant steel truss will be here tomorrow (Friday) or Monday. Our money is on Tuesday...once we have that, they will be able to finish the front part of the first floor, which hasn't really progressed in about 3 weeks.
We are hoping that we'll have a full roof by Thankgiving. Doors and windows are ahead of schedule, so hopefully we'll be able to have those set just after that.
