Floorboards

The plasterers have taken a break so the flooring crew can get started.

Here's a shot of the first floorboards going down:



Looks pretty straightforward - the floor floats over the subfloor, so it all interlocks together without actually being nailed down:



They lay it down over a "Superfoam" moisture barrier - two plastic layers with some styrofoam balls inside. It looks like a bean-bag-chair-sandwich.



Here's the main run, looking toward the front door.



By the end of the day they had finished the family room and most of the hallway. Fred says it will take about 6 days to finish the floor, followed by trim and casing, then a final plaster coat and yet more sanding.
